Tehran, May 20 – Iranian leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei met with Iran’s ambassadors and envoys to various countries and international organizations on Saturday, May 20. The meeting was part of a two-week larger gathering of Iranian ambassadors in Tehran, an event that typically occurs once every two or three years. This year’s gathering is the first in five years, with the previous gatherings being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, only Iranian envoys to regional countries convened, emphasizing the current government’s focus on foreign policy engagement with regional and Asian countries. This policy has further been demonstrated by the Iranian president’s previous visits to regional and Asian countries and also his upcoming visit to Indonesia on Monday, May 22.
The theme of this year’s gathering is “Emerging World Order and Islamic Republic of Iran’s Role.” The event brings together Iran’s diplomatic corps to discuss the country’s position and strategies in a rapidly changing global landscape.
The meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei provides an opportunity for Iran’s ambassadors and envoys to hear his guidelines on navigating the challenges and opportunities presented by the emerging world order. This gathering also serves as a platform for Iranian diplomats to exchange ideas and experiences, fostering greater collaboration and unity in promoting Iran’s interests on the evolving international stage.
