A high-level Russian delegation, including two deputies of the Russian Prime Minister, has arrived in Tehran for a significant visit. The delegation met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian as both countries prepare to finalize a comprehensive cooperation agreement.
During the meeting, Iranian President stressed expansion of bilateral cooperation as well as the completion of the International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran and Russia have been actively working to determine a date for the completion of this agreement. Baghaei confirmed on Monday that the deal is expected to be signed in January 2025.
In addition to the delegation’s visit, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also slated to travel to Russia soon to help finalize the signing of the agreement.
The signing of the agreement was expected to be conducted during a visit by Iranian President to Russia. The accord highlights the growing ties between Iran and Russia, reflecting their shared goal of strengthening strategic and economic cooperation.
The comprehensive cooperation agreement is expected to address various sectors, including energy, infrastructure, and technology, marking a new phase in bilateral relations. Both nations view this agreement as a foundation for deeper collaboration and mutual benefits in the coming years.
