Iran Nuances learned that Abbas Araghchi, the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and chief negotiator for Iran, has been appointed as the president-elect’s liaison with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the transition period, Araghchi will serve as the coordinator in foreign policy matters, including the exchange of messages and contacts with foreign officials, and the invitation of foreign guests to the inauguration ceremony. He will work closely with Reza Najafi, the deputy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who serves as the ministry’s liaison.
Over the past three days, officials from various countries have extended their congratulations to Masoud Pezeshkian on his election as the new president of Iran through written messages and telephone calls, discussing bilateral, regional, and international issues.
